Band going to Semi-Finals

The band performed last in the 2008 3A West Regional competitions – with a few minor tempo errors and a slip by one of the band members towards the end of the show, the kids performed well enough to get one of only four distinguished ratings. LaRue County placed 3rd overall behind Adair county and Muhlenburg North, the other distinguished rating went to Russell Co.  The remaining four (4) bands going to semi-final from the West Region in Meade County next week are Hart Co., Taylor Co., Warren East and Breckinridge Co.  In the 3A East Region were Bourbon Co., Garrard Co. and Highland getting a distinguished rating followed by Mason Co., Estill Co., North Oldham, Powell Co. and Corbin Co.

LaRue County placed 6th overall (84.07) in all of class 3A Competition on Saturday behind Adair County (91.12), Bourbon County (89.10), Garrard County (87.91, Highlands (84.97) and Muhlenberg North (84.88).

During the draw for Semi-final performance order, LaRue Co. drew the 9th position while Adair Co. Drew the 15th position.

Band does well at Grayson County

The band traveled to Grayson County yesterday and performed well. They were one of only three bands that got a distinguished rating. Unfortunately the other two band were in class 3A too so the Band of Hawks (80.84) took both 3rd place in their class and 3rd place in the overall contest behind Taylor County (81.88) and Muhlenburg North (82.15) - they did however beat Central Hardin (79.55), Meade County (77.68), Hart County (76.02) and Breckinridge County (73.96).

Competition was close with the band being less than a point away from all the other bands in all areas except color guard and percussion. The band has this week to clean up those areas in preparation for KMEA West Regional competition in Bowling Green next Saturday. They will be the last band to perform on Saturday at Warren East High School. With only 18 bands in class 3A - LaRue has become one of only 8 to receive a distinguished rating this year. The band had not received a distinguished rating since the 2006 marching season.

Come support your band at Regional Competition.
